The most burning questions an electric supply retailer or an outlet dealer expect from his customers interested in buying solar panels are, “How much power will one panel provide or how many electric appliances it can run?” and “Where are solar panels made?” Though the first question is more likely of the two, those who are more interested in the quality of the solar panels rather than just performance, are more interested in knowing where the solar panels they are going to buy are manufactured.

We might trace scores of reasons for a shopper’s being interested in knowing the origin of the solar panels they are going to buy. For instance, they might prefer American made solar panels just for being patriotic or they might reject the ones manufactured in China or other countries just because they think these panels lack in quality and durability.

The most recent data shows that the USA and China top the list of solar panels manufacturers countries. But the brands based in these countries also work in collaboration with the producers in other countries. The headquarters of these companies, for instance, may be in the USA or China but the plants on which the solar panels are actually manufactured might be in other countries like the Philippines or South Korea. However, between the two leading countries, China takes the lead and many of its companies are among the top 10 in the list of solar panels manufacturers. On the other hand, only one US company First Solar Inc. is among the top 10 solar panel makers and this has its manufacturing facility located in Malaysia. Other countries in the list that make solar panels include Germany, Canada, Japan, and South Korea.

Though most of the United States solar panel companies import fully manufactured solar panels, many others import only key components like monocrystalline panels, polycrystalline, silicon and solar cells from other countries and do all the manufacturing themselves. The manufacturing facilities of these companies are in different parts of the country though their headquarters might be in other countries. Some of the important US solar panels makers include Tesla/Panasonic, Mission Solar, Solar Tech Universal, and Seraphim.

Elon Musk’s Tesla Energy, a partner with Panasonic, manufacture Tesla solar roof and Panasonic solar panels in the Tesla Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo, New York. Mission Solar, a San Antonio, Texas-based company produces rooftop as well as large solar panels. Solar Tech Universal has its manufacturing facility located in Riviera Beach, Florida. Seraphim Energy Group is another major US solar panels producers in the country. Its plants are located in Jackson, Mississippi.
